Jets Chasing Aaron Rodgers
By Ed Wood
Aaron Rodgers is still contemplating his new move, and it is beginning to feel as if the veteran quarterback might be heading for the exit at Lambeau Field and there is serious interest from the New York Jets.
Rodgers, who has only played for the Green Bay Packers over the course of his 18 NFL seasons, experienced a rare losing season in 2022 and failed to push the team to the play-offs and has been cagey about his future ever since.
Without Rodgers, one imagines the Packers will struggle to hit the heights they managed with him on board, and if you fancy backing the Jets, should they end up picking up the four-time NFL MVP, then checkout profitsquad.com to run the rule on the best sportsbooks around, as picking the right provider can undoubtedly aid the size of your potential payout.
Rodgers will have watched the Tom Brady saga play out over the past year or so, when the NFL legend retired before returning to the game some weeks later, only to then see his efforts fail to inspire the Tampa Bay Buccaneers further than a limp Wild Card Play-Off loss and will want to make a decision that he won’t regret.
By all accounts, the Packers will want a good deal to trade Rodgers and want a first-round pick and more for the 39-year-old, and one wonders if the Jets are willing to dig deep to bring in a player with perhaps a season or two left in the tank, even a player as decorated and accomplished as Aaron Rodgers.
There is a great deal of speculation as to his future, and ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes it’s all or nothing in terms of Rodgers’ next move;
"My sense is there continues to be more and more signs about him leaving Green Bay. And I think in the end, my sense is ultimately it will come down to whether he wants to play elsewhere, which would be really the New York Jets, or whether he wants to retire. To me, those are the two most logical options and the two most likely scenarios here. But again, we have not heard from Aaron Rodgers himself.”
The Packers appear ready to give back-up QB Jordan Love a shot next season, and that will, of course, impact upon Rodgers’ thinking, and this has been backed up by general manager Brian Gutekunst, who stated about Love;
"I think I've expressed to a lot of people that he needs to play. That's the next step in his progression,"
"He needs to play. Jordan's done a great job working hard, so he's doing everything we're asking."
Rodgers opted to go on a four-day darkness retreat after the NFL season came to its completion and clearly has a lot of thinking to do, but he may well have to make his feelings clear sooner rather than later on this matter.

Darkness retreat. What a pos this was. All along acting like wow this is such a huuuuuugly decision.
No it aint. First you know when its time to retire your interest wanes and you look elsewhere for another life. Doesnt take forever to get to that point.
Second, he knows what he has in GB so staying is easier then a new team that may not let him do his stuff.
Third, there is big big big money on the table that goes a long way in retirement for future enterprises.
So to me, he knows what he wants it no secret to him. His not announcing kind of tells me what he wants is the Jets deal to run out and the packers being stuck with him. He is not retiring or he would have announced already and be out golfing not running around in GB. Last if he was going to the Jets he should be in NY looking for a place to live instead of living in GB.
He will screw this team and the deal and play his last season on his terms he thinks. GB could make him a back up but at 58 mil thats a lot of money bench sitting.
