Texans Agree to Terms With 7th Round WR Dorin Dickerson

Tight end convert agrees to four-year contract with Houston.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports the Houston Texans have agreed to terms with seventh-round wide receiver Dorin Dickerson.

Financial terms were not disclosed, but Dickerson's four-year deal is believed to be worth more than $1.84 million dollars.

Off-the-charts athletically, Dickerson began his career at the University of Pittsburgh as a wide receiver, catching one pass for 5 yards, and running the ball three times for 24 yards and a touchdown. Dickerson was moved to linebacker as a sophomore, totaling 15 tackles in a reserve role.

In 2008, Dickerson was moved to tight end, and as a reserve, caught 13 passes for 174 yards and 2 touchdowns before exploding for 49 receptions for 529 yards with 10 touchdowns last season, earning first-team All-Big East honors as well as being a finalist for the John Mackey Award, presented annually to the top tight end in college football.

At 6-1 and 226 pounds, with 4.4 speed and the athleticism to post a 43.5” vertical leap and 10’05” broad jump at the 2010 Scouting Combine, Dickerson will play wide receiver in the NFL.

Dickerson is the sixth of the Texans' nine picks in the 2010 NFL Draft to sign or agree to terms on a contract. Still unsigned are fourth-round tight end Garrett Graham, second-round running back Ben Tate, and first-round cornerback Kareem Jackson.
