Lions WR Nate Burleson Plans to Retain Diva Status
By admin
Detroit Lions wide receiver Nate Burleson has never been his team's "go-to" receiver. In Minnesota, he played second fiddle to Randy Moss, and in Seattle, he was behind Darrell Jackson (2006), Bobby Engram (2007), and after tearing his ACL in the 2008 season-opener, behind T.J. Houshmandzadeh in 2009.
Burleson will be the #2 to Calvin Johnson in Detroit, but tells Tom Kowalski of MLive.com that despite doing the grunt work, he's still a diva.
"I've been the 'Robin' to somebody else's 'Batman'. I'm OK with that," Burleson said. "The talent we have across the board is really special. It's one thing to have a group of possession receivers, we're looking to score. I'm excited about that.
"Don't get me wrong. I'm a diva," Burleson added. "I love the attention. But I'm not going to get my nails done. I know how to grind. So much of this game is intensity and energy."
