Game Slowing Down for Jimmy Clausen

After over a week of training camp, Carolina Panthers second-round quarterback Jimmy Clausen says the game is slowing down for him, Darin Gantt of the Charlotte Observer reports.
"The biggest thing for me right now is everything's starting to slow down for me a little bit," Clausen said. "When we first got to camp it was the same as (the OTAs), just trying to get out there and play as fast as I can, but I was still trying to get used to the speed of the game and making all the right calls and reads and knowing my progressions.
"Now I'm kind of coming into it and it's slowed down a lot for me. (Monday) I really felt it. It was just like playing football all over again. It's slowing down."
As positive a sign as this is for Clausen, he's not expected to seriously challenge Matt Moore for the starting job this summer. Panthers third-round wide receiver Brandon LaFell noted on Tuesday that "things move so much faster when Matt's behind the ball than when Jimmy (Clausen) or Hunter (Cantwell) is there", demonstrating that there's still a noticeable gap between Moore and Clausen/Cantwell.
Clausen's contract may have been an indicator that the team doesn't expect him to make an impact until 2011.
