Colts G Jacques McClendon Ready for NFL Challenge

As critical as Indianapolis Colts president Bill Polian was of the offensive line's performance in Super Bowl XLIV, the Colts only used one of their eight picks in the 2010 NFL Draft on an offensive lineman, picking up University of Tennessee guard Jacques McClendon in the fourth round.
The former Vols standout is ready for the challenge ahead of him, Richard Roberts of the Cleveland (TN) Daily-Banner reports.
"I’ve been up there all summer working out with the team and making sure I’m doing what I need to be doing to get myself in the best possible shape to fit into their system," McClendon said. "I’ve already had a couple of OTAs and on the field practices, so I’ve kind of gotten the sense of how they do things."
McClendon is one of six picks by the Colts who have not signed or agreed to terms on a rookie contract. Colts veterans and rookies are not scheduled to report to training camp until August 1, which makes the following quote from McClendon a bit puzzling.
"We start rookie mini-camp Wednesday," McClendon said. "That will be another installation process for us rookies trying to get familiar with the offense. That (mini-camp) will transition us to the real training camp, which we will report to this weekend. It’s really about to get cranked up."
The Denver Broncos clarified the reporting date for their rookies earlier today, so it's possible that incorrect information was circulated regarding when Colts rookies are due to report for training camp.
Otherwise, McClendon is going to be quite lonely for a few days in the dorms at Anderson University.
