Michael Lombardi of NFL.com reported on Sunday that Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders had "reduced his contract", and his slow recovery from shoulder and biceps injuries put his playing career in jeopardy.
"There is some concern Colts safety Bob Sanders might never be able to play football again, with his shoulder and bicep issues. He reduced his contract, but his rehab has been slow.", Lombardi wrote.
Tom Condon, Sander's agent, and the Colts are disputing the report, Phil Richards of the Indianapolis Star reports.
Condon denies both that a renegotiation of Sanders' contract has taken place, and a team spokesman tells Richards that "Nothing has changed since June.".
Sanders is set to make $2.275 million in 2010. $12.5 million of Sanders' $37.5 million dollar contract extension coming in 2011 and 2012, the final two years of the deal.
