Chargers to Sign S Tyrone Carter

Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports the San Diego Chargers are set to sign veteran safety Tyrone Carter.
The 34-year old safety was in San Diego for a physical, Wilson adds.
A fourth-round pick (118th overall) of the Minnesota Vikings out of the University of Minnesota in 2000, Carter (5-9, 195) has started 53 of 151 games during a 10-year career with the Vikings, New York Jets (2003), and Pittsburgh Steelers, where he's picked up a pair of Super Bowl rings over the last six seasons.
Carter has totaled 450 tackles, 5.5 quarterback sacks, 9 interceptions and 27 passes defensed, and will add a veteran presence to the back-end of a secondary that lost starting strong safety Steve Gregory to a four-game suspension this week.
Carter totaled 10 tackles in two pre-season games with the Washington Redskins this summer, but was released on September 4.
