Chargers to Sign OT Tra Thomas

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports the San Diego Chargers will sign veteran offensive tackle Tra Thomas.
Thomas, 35, is a free agent after spending last season with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles with the 11th overall pick of the 1998 NFL Draft, the former Florida State standout started at left tackle in 165 of his 166 regular season games with the Eagles, earning trips to the Pro Bowl after the 2001, 2002, and 2004 seasons.
In his one season with the Jaguars, Thomas (6-7, 316) started three of the eight games he was active, primarily serving as a backup to 2009 draft choices Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton.
Thomas will provide veteran insurance at left tackle, as restricted free agent Marcus McNeill is threatening to skip training camp, and perhaps the 2010 season, in his attempt to receive a long-term contract from the Chargers.
