Bears S Major Wright to Undergo Surgery on Broken Finger

The Chicago Bears announced that rookie safety Major Wright will undergo surgery on his fractured left index finger on Tuesday.

Chosen in the third-round of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Florida, Wright is projected to start at strong safety for the Bears this season. Wright posted seven tackles in the pre-season opener against the San Diego Chargers on Saturday night.

Wright has been ruled out for Saturday night's pre-season game against the Oakland Raiders, but the Bears expect Wright to be ready for the season-opener. Bears safety Craig Steltz (ankle) and quarterback Caleb Hanie (shoulder) also will not play against Oakland.
