Good = Malik Willis making himself a lot of $ and hopefully garnering the Pack a 3rd round compensatory pick

Bad = that snap off Malik’s helmet.

Ugly = Whoever is responsible for the worst group of Cornerbacks and defensive tackles among the 14 playoff teams (and plenty of non-playoff teams). Just completely devoid of talent at those positions.

You mean the guy who won us 9 games, has a 66.3% pass completion perc (best in NFL), has 23 TD's and 6 picks? Trade that guy? Trade him and keep a guy who couldnt make the Tenn roster?

I love WIllis but stop talking like your as ignorant as a Bears fan.

Despite my criticism of Malik Willis as an option to be a starting QB, I like Malik, and I understand why people are drawn to him.

He's explosive and exciting. He's got the ability to run for 15-20 yards, and he's got a picture-perfect deep ball that comes out from that rocket arm of his.

People like flashy, people like big plays. They don't see or understand the actual control at the LOS, the ability to get out of a bad look and into a good set and a successful play pre snap, the patience and ability to find the 3rd route option when it all breaks down.. all the stuff you want your starting QB to be able to do effectively.

Malik Willis is going to have his highlight reel plays. He's also going to have a number of losses and injuries that will result in a short career as a starter in the NFL. He really is in his best role as a backup / change of pace weapon in this league.

People have short memories. There are many of this type of player who have grabbed fans collective attention over the years. They usually don't make it past the third season before the experiment is over. I wish Malik well, he's going to get his 2nd chance to be a starter, but I don't think it's going to go well.

disagree Oppy, the NFL is gradually but for surely venturing into fast strong big armed QBs that teams can read option or design run plays for, a dimension most DQ have yet to defend.... With todays blitzing speed rushers standing tall in the pocket and getting drilled from different sometimes blindside angles while in a throwing motion is getting just as dangerous as running and sliding on the turf.

I can settle this......

When you have a back up QB that flashes as much as Willis does, NFL GM's are going to sit up and take notice.

Now i don't know if Willis can be a franchise QB, BUT....he's showing GM's he has the potential to be that.

Franchise QB's don't grow on tree's, if they did, every team would have one, or two.

Teams will be willing to take a chance on him, happily.

Financially, he's low risk, high reward.

Eric....5,6 games or whatever it is, is a small sample size.

I just don't think any team is going to give him a multi year deal at the going rate of starting QB's with guarantee's.

He shows flashes, he's not an established starter.

There are a lot of ways to offer a 2,3 years deal, with a second year out for a team.
But it might cost the team 15, 20 million or so to give him a shot.
Think Matt Flynn.

Maybe i'm wrong, maybe he'll get more than 20 million, idk.
Teams do crazy stupid things. See Deshaun Watson.

Seeing the Bears game, I thought that after many many years we finally had a Defense. Biggest disappointment is Rashan Gary. Opinions before the season was it would be Engebare's last year, but he's done a lot more than Gary.
These short scrambling QBs are always discounted, but with issues needed to stick with speedy receivers, their ability to buy extra time makes the passing game more dangerous.

I can't even think about GBU, this defense completly decided to take off the game, game plan was not there either. No desparation in their game, Rashan Gary who really should have been the Kevin Mchale to Larry Bird (Micah). No Show again! This guy should be cut right away been hearing for 5 years how great he was going to be, all that money zero sacks in Dec? Stiff from day one. Both CB's plus Hobbs need to go, Gute you need to really tak a look at how you are drafting. If they face SF get ready Shanahan owns MLF will take no prisioners one and done. Obviously they miss Wyatt more than let on, DC just lost a few of his admirers after those callsor lack of. Last game @ Lambeau for a few favorites.

Did the defense just quit on MLF?I don't think this team has a good foundation & Gute isn't going to fix that cause he built it.It's a catch 22 with the Parsons signing he IS the pass rush but the $ & loss of pics make improving the foundation more difficult. If they can beat the Vikings to finish the reg season 5&1 in the div so there's that.As far as the playoffs,PLAYOFFS?, r concerned not looking like an embarrassment would be a victory.

They might not have quit but your still blocking a Packer Dline including ends that average 280lbs with an offensive line that averages 340 lbs. and a fullback that weighs 300 lbs. it was a total mismatch

Good- Willis and Watson.

Bad - the front 7 and lack of even 2nd string CBs. Miss Valentine trying to tackle Henry. Pathetic.

Ugly - The GB team/corporate culture that allows the same old lack of football excellence. A HC and GM that have no accountability towards winning. An organization where inconsistency is ok because the team makes the 7th seed in the playoffs, year after year!

There it is for you. Well said. The lack of accountability and lack of leadership toward winning in this management culture, although Parsons signing was great work but it created future drafting issues. Meanwhile, Legend HC Lombardi would never ever allow a championship/playoff type game to be lost at home . He said it himself to be accountable, i.e. This will never happen again with the rest as history. Being a west coast offense, the 49ers showed how to beat the high flying Bears suckers last night. Score. Score and score efficiently without repeating endless game critical errors. How a WR can mishandle a simple offside kick to lose the Bears game is simply a reflection how they handle high pressure situations badly and the lack of confidence in critical situations.

Yet, this "run it twice on 4th down up the strength of Ravens DL" failure HC clown is responsible for three straight loses, Yet, he then goes to the same old story aftergames narrative. He quickly starts his control freak narrative press conferences to give the narrative story impression that it is somebody else who failed in the coaching responsibilities. He is a piece of bullsh*t, get it? Then, how the DC could not anticipate what the Ravens game plan, and to counteract it is beyond belief? As a writer correctly pointed out in his narrative, the backups only story about Wooden and Brooks is old news. We need two new DTs who can hold the run in 4 quarters. Now, beyond the Viking game at high noon, we may have a rematch with the Bears in the playoffs to see how it plays out? Afterwards in the offseason fans should keep track of 3 immediate needs, DT/CB/ED. Good luck!

A couple days ago there was an article on "what's wrong with the Packers". Comments Section consisted of a lack of confidence and leadership, as well as injuries. The injuries are part of the game and unavoidable. The lack of confidence and leadership are controllable.

The Packers have a big offseason coming up with both LeFleur and Gutey having one year remaining on their contracts. They cannot go into next season as lame ducks so they will either need to be extended or replaced this offseason. I believe Gutey has assembled enough talent to be extended but that LeFleur needs to be let go.

LeFleur has been here long enough to realize that he is an excellent offensive coach but not a good enough leader of men to get the Packers back to the Super Bowl. He has a 3-5 playoff record (soon to be 3-6) despite having one of the greatest QBs of all time, an excellent replacement in Love and frequently had home field advantage.

He does not inspire his teams. When I watch the Packers I am waiting for the play that will cost them the game. Every loss this season, except the Ravens game where we just got whipped up front, has been winnable but we just couldn't make the play needed to complete the victory. A missed FG, extra point, failure to field on onside kick, not making a contested catch. I don't see anything on the horizon that is going to change that with LeFleur remaining at the helm.

A strong leader makes tough decision, why is Bissacia still here? LA's Special Teams coach is fired after ST's cost them a victory. How many has GB lost due to ST's? If there is no accountability for the Asst. Head Coach is there accountability for the players? How much does management need to see that this is not going to change with LeFleur?

Rather than fire LeFleur I would trade him. Can't trade a Head Coach? Wrong! There have been 8 HCs traded in NFL history, some for multiple 1st and 2nd round picks. The most recent was Sean Payton in 2023 going from the Saints to the Broncos. The Broncos gave the Saints a 1st and 2nd in exchange for the rights to Payton (after he had already resigned from the Saints) and a 3rd. I am told that LeFleur is well regarded in NFL coaching circles so let's find out what his market value is with one year left on his contract.

If we're letting LeFleur go who is the replacement. How about Hafley? The defense has had a couple disasters this year but we have seen significant development out of our younger players indicative of good coaching. Evan Williams, Bullard, Valentine (even if he won't tackle anyone) and Wyatt come to mind. He seems like a coach that players rally around, respect and like playing for. If he's not promoted to HC he's probably as good as gone.

If I was Ed Policy, that is what I would do to let the team know that the status quo is not good enough.

I always love these kinds of posts.

Let's trade LeFleur, who, according to you, is:

* not a good enough leader of men to get the Packers back to the Super Bowl.

* He does not inspire his teams.

* Has a "soon to be" 3-6 playoff record "despite having one of the greatest QBs of all time, an excellent replacement in Love and frequently had home field advantage.

* I believe Gutey has assembled enough talent to be extended but that LeFleur needs to be let go.

If this is who you think LeFleur truly is, why on earth would you expect there to be teams wanting to trade for him?

Am I crazy to think that if we lay an egg in the playoffs that we consider keeping Willis over Love? Possibly get back the picks we spent on Micah by trading JL. Sign Willis to a team friendly deal and reinforce the roster. We’re in a weird spot with expiring contracts. I’m not sure this is the way to go but I wouldn’t close the door on anything at this point.

Malik Willis has started 6 NFL games in his career. He brings an element to the game Love doesn't have which is his running ability. He throws a very accurate ball from both a stationary platform and while on the move. He doesn't appear to be afraid of the big moment.

I completely agree with the trade Love suggestion. Restock the DL, OL and CB rooms and a developmental QB with the picks we get for LeFleur and Love.

Good: Willis, Watson, Doubs, and Cooper

Bad: MLF, DL, and OL . When you lose both sides of the LOS it's very difficult for the rest of the team to have a good game.

Ugly: Just about the entire game except for some great runs and throws by Willis.

The Packers did not look like a playoff level team last night. They have allowed 97 points in their last 3 games and they have looked like a badly coached high school team in doing so. I realize that injuries have taken a serious toll on the roster but there is no excuse for the Packers level of play as an alleged professional NFL playoff team. Thanks, Since '61

Good:not much more of this season to endure
Bad: Run D is offensive, and they knew what to expect.
Gutey's roster construction
Ugly: my mood watching persistent mediocrity. A 7 seed is basically average in a 16 team conference and that's been the norm lately.

I hope Mr Policy has a bold vision and not Murphy inertia.

The GREAT, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly:
The Great ---- Malik, of course. Closest to a one a man show you're ever gonna see. Too bad it was in a losing effort. And that he'll be wearing another uni next year. Deserves everything he gets, tho.
The Good: recipients of most of Malik's completions ----- Watson - big playmaker with 32 & 39 yard bombs/ Doubs - had a 40 yarder.
The Bad and the Ugly all rolled up together. We now have a defense that's totally offensive. We: A) can't stop the run; B) can't rush the passer (Zero sacks since Parsons went down); and, C) can't cover long enough on the back end in part because of B.
To quote another post: It's just not Green Bay's year.

We didn’t take Tj watt. For gods sake over Kevin king. Are you kidding me.

We didn’t draft Rodger’s. He fell into our lap for the pick.

We didn’t even sign an older Watt for cheap. We would have made the playoffs that year.

Kevin king cost us a Super Bowl. Brady seen that guy on the field went right at him.

Block punt with 10 guys on the field vs 49ers.

Your on to something. Gutts drafting: Love, Alexander, Stokes, Lloyd. Van Ness, Gary - rated 2nd round or early third. We took him at 12 and left pro bowl defenders on the table. Reed,, smallish receiver who had one good year at MSU. Oft hurt and drops passes, ya what a find. Golden, smallish receiver hard to target. Not 6'3 with speed and size hey Gutt? First round?

Willis delivers the ball on time.

Love did this vs Dallas. Since then bouncing off his feet. Throwing off his foot

That crap needs to stop. Deliver the ball on freaking time to Doubs. Watson Reed wicks Golden

Can you please try to get Golden involved…. Or was it a pick if we didn’t take him he was going to the lions …..

He seems open to me at games …..

We get yac with Willis

Love throw to wicks in Denver behind him…..loves throw to Watson vs bears. Behind him

Love throw to melton vs bears. Late. Melton made great adjustment

Willis play yesterday best qb play since Rodger’s game vs cowboys

Love needs to step up and lead this team.

Who wants to play instead of Gary. I would say the job is open. Who wants it.

I like Gary. But something is wrong.

Is it panic time. Noooooooo.

But it’s time to game plan for the bears or eagles next 13 days

Don’t game plan for the Vikings. All the time on the bears or eagles

Snap, as an M fan, I followed Gary who was supposed to be the second coming. He took games off, mostly the ones against top talent. He always showed up against Rutgers. I saw bust all over this guy.
At one time he was considering quiting the team mid season to get prepared for the combine. Bossa did it.
He had a minor injury, misses some game was cleared to return and refused saying he knew his body and would return when he was ready. A real class guy. I knew he was a terrible pick. Their is nothing wrong with him other then he ain't very good. Pre draft analyst had it right he lacks upper body strength to compete against bigger stronger o line men.

The Good?
1. Malik Willis. 100%. He delivered to the best of his abilities.

2. Xavier McKinney. He remains the 2nd best player on this Packers team behind Jordan Love. X did his best in run stop. His efforts were readily apparent.

The Bad?
Matt LaFleur. His team was not prepared to DOMINATE. Not even close. His DL took the entire 1st Half off. That will kill any team, especially in run stop. His OL completely sucked in run blocking. Jacobs had nowhere to run. His play calling was highly questionable. His gametime decision making, which has been a recurring issue throughout his career in big games, caused a game changing gaffe going for it on 4th and 1 from our own 34 yd. line with 13+ minutes left in Q2.

What the F, MATT??? Punt the goddam rock! Holmgren used punting as a weapon with P Craig Hentrich to flip field position.

W T A F , MATT???!!! You put your team behind two scores with that, and it was all for bravado. Idiotic bravado. You keep costing your team wins. Why was your Defense bullied throughout this game, especially the entire 1st half? Why was your OL not ready to run block? Is Josh Jacobs not 100% healthy? Then WHY ARE YOUR FORCING HIM? A rushing assault with Emmanuel and Malik, along a motivated, prepared OL could have won this game, and kept your defense fresh.

STOP F-ING UP IMPORTANT GAMES, Matt LaFleur. Have your team 100% ready to win every week, with a game plan that makes sense. The failure to show up, yourself and your players ready to defend your home turf, on multiple levels, was appalling. Again.

The Ugly?
1. Rashan Gary being on this team half-assing at nearly every turn. That kind of attitude can rub off on teammates, and I’m starting to wonder if that has not been occuring since the loss of Micah Parsons.

Rashan, you jogged around the field against CHI, and you got blocked out by a WR against BAL. Putting up a s-ton of ZEROS along the way. 1 assisted Tackle and 1 QB Hit is not cutting it, Rashan. Neither is your attitude, which is noticeable from afar.

2. Brian Gutekunst failing to acknowledge the importance of quality NT play. What on earth have you been waiting for? It has been a decade since BJ Raji left Green Bay. Of course opponents will run all over your ass at will. Get some quality on our DL. Yes, Wyatt went down with injury, and, WE STILL WOULD HAVE NEEDED AT LEAST ONE LEGIT NOSE TACKLE had he not!!! You are losing these games as much as anyone with this organization.

SIGN SOME LEGIT RUN STOP at DT/NT!!!

The Great, Malik Willis I don't think I have ever said this but under the circumstances his performance last night was spectacular.
The Good, Walker, Doubs, McKinney, and yes LVN
The Bad , The D-line although they never had a chance, DBs Valentine with another jump the receiver blow the tackle play
The Ugly, the coaching, 4-down up the middle run how about the read option? penalties, dysfunctional execution ( I am told coaching has nothing to do with the way players execute ) Injuries, why are the Packers players always getting hurt in the games I watch or attend while the opposing teams appear to be injury free.

Way too many bad and ugly plays to pick just one of each. But for the Bad I'll go with the defense lining up with no one over the center or either guard. So of course, Huntly runs straight ahead for about 20 yards. WTF was that???
For the ugly I'll go with the snap hitting Willis in the face mask. The was some Keystone Cops ugly shit.

Ummmmmmmm, what in the fuck did I just watch? That might well be the worst game this team has played under MLF. Let's start with the good-Malik Willis and his audition for the thirty one other teams in the NFL. He looked like a world beater. Christian Watson also looking really good.. The bad. the backups playing d line.....hideous. Who the hell is Clayton Tune? Im hoping the kid was a guy working concession before we put him in. finally the ugly, Rashon Gary, AKA Claude Raines, was invisible again, that 20 mill per can be getter spent. Derrick Henry-great player but he rushed for so many yards they started messing it in mileage Its gotta be better or we will go out with a whimper.GOPACKGO!

Please note Wilment, Mr Gary is a professional at getting lost in games and going missing. He honed that skill at Mich (go blue). He went missing in games and had a habit of being injured for the big games against OSU. I think he was avoiding exposing his lack of pass rushing skills. He showed up for the Rutgers games though. So what your seeing is happening your not losing your mind.
I prayed Gutt would not take this guy. He was rated a 2nd or early third round pick not a 12 thats for sure.

Good: Willis, Watson, Reed and maybe Doubs. On Defense. Van Ness made a few plays. Enagbare did as well.
Bad: Run Defense, Valentine
Ugly: This pass rush is non existent, now that Parsons is out. Two games, in a row, where a DL guy has given the opponent new life, with a stupid penalty.

I've been screaming to get Golden more involved--and especially down the field. He had one deep play to the left side, against the Ravens, but couldn't make the catch. Using him almost solely, on end arounds and short pass plays, is wasting his talent, IMO. Watching the Bears-49ers game showed me how far we have to go to actually compete and win, late in the season, in the NFC. These two teams played a stellar football game. However, if we beat the vikings, we will be 5-1, in the North. That's a lot better than the 1-5 mark, from last season. That gives me hope, as well.
