Packers vs Eagles: A Litmus Test Game for Green Bay
Packers running back Josh Jacobs has 10 rushing touchdowns in eight games this season.

In the last 30 years, one of the primary competitors for the Green Bay Packers has been the Philadelphia Eagles. The defending champion Eagles enter next Monday night’s game as the current top seed in the NFC with a 6-2 record.
Since 1995, the Packers and Eagles have the most playoff appearances amongst NFC teams with 22 and 19 appearances, respectively. In 12 of those seasons both teams made the NFC playoffs, resulting in seven combined Super Bowl appearances and four world championships.
The two teams have met three times in the playoffs since the turn of the century, with all three matchups taking place at Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field.
Packers vs. Eagles playoff games since 1995
| Year | Winning Team | Losing Team | Score | Memorable Moment |
| 2003 | Eagles | Packers | 20-17(ot) | Eagles 4th & 26 conversion |
| 2010 | Packers | Eagles | 21-16 | Tramon Williams' game-sealing interception |
| 2024 | Eagles | Packers | 22-10 | Opening kickoff fumble by Keisan Nixon |
Heading into the Week 10 battle, these are two teams who should feel like they are Super Bowl contenders in the NFC. The Packers and Eagles are two of the five NFC teams who made the playoffs the last 2 years. The other three being the Detroit Lions, LA Rams and Tampa Bay Bucs.
If the playoffs were to start today those five teams plus the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers would make up the NFC’s seven playoff teams.
Current NFC Playoff Standings
| Seed | Team | W | L | T | PF | PA | PD |
| 1 | Philadelphia Eagles | 6 | 2 | 0 | 208 | 185 | 23 |
| 2 | Tampa Bay Bucs | 6 | 2 | 0 | 197 | 178 | 19 |
| 3 | Seattle Seahawks | 6 | 2 | 0 | 231 | 150 | 81 |
| 4 | Green Bay Packers | 5 | 2 | 1 | 206 | 166 | 40 |
| 5 | LA Rams | 6 | 2 | 0 | 209 | 127 | 82 |
| 6 | San Francisco 49ers | 6 | 3 | 0 | 194 | 188 | 6 |
| 7 | Detroit Lions | 5 | 3 | 0 | 239 | 178 | 61 |
The last seven Super Bowls have included the Eagles three times, the 49ers twice, the Rams twice and Bucs once.
Next Monday’s game will be a litmus test for both where the Packers stand currently against one of the conference’s best teams, but also where it could possibly be playing in the playoffs (should there be playoff games being played at Lambeau Field or on the road).
A win over the Eagles would be very important if there was a playoff rematch, with that game more likely being in Green Bay. In each of the three previous years the Packers and Eagles played in the playoffs, the teams played in the regular season. The regular season winner in each case won the playoff rematch.
Regular season meetings that proceded a playoff rematch
| Year | Winning Team | Losing Team | Score | Memorable Moment |
| 2003 | Eagles | Packers | 17-14 | Ahman Green team-record 191 yards rushing in rain |
| 2010 | Packers | Eagles | 27-20 | Week 1 win, first in Philly since 1962 |
| 2024 | Eagles | Packers | 34-29 | First NFL game played in Brazil, Love gets hurt on second-to-last play |

We are better than the Eagles, the Rams should have won last year a no call at the end of the game and I think Tampa is better also.
Just play our game and win by 8 plus points Monday night it’s pretty straight forward.
All our good receivers they can’t cover all .

You must have missed the game last week.

He both lays out a simple formula and assumes the whole team "has a short memory," even when fans don't. That GB won't win anything playing like they did last week goes without say.

You predicted a two score win over Pittsburgh. If you get this one right, I'm going to chisel your name in a stone, or at least scratch your initials into a piece of limestone.

LOL, after the Panthers, EVERY game is a litmus test for the Packers. Maybe they'll be up to the challenge, maybe they won't...
Golden seemed to avoid a serious injury, so that's good news. If he's available for the Eagles game, then USE him instead of throwing him crumbs and developing him at a snail's pace. I don't know what the problem is here, but it's time to deviate from the standard M.O. and let your first round pick help the team. Offensive adjustments need to be made one way or the other.

It is so frustrating how MLF has utilized Golden. He should be in the hunt for O-ROY. He has the best hands and quickest moves at WR. MLF uses him on jet sweeps, and outside screens behind the line of scrimmage. He should be used over the middle and allow him to YAC, YAC, YAC. Seven years in, MLF is proving himself to be a mediocre HC. He has learned nothing.

Yes #0 should be best in space, not fighting for YAC.

Not merely "offensive adjustments," but a MAJOR STRATEGY CHANGE on that side of the ball. MLF wants to be run first and go heavy on 12 personnel? Sorry Charlie we don't have a blocking TE and our O line can't run block either. #8 is still GREAT, but he can't block AND run on the same play.
Drastic change such as 6 O linemen, with 4 WRs or only 3; with our best pass pro RB in, who is Chris Brooks. Let Love cook and establish the pass like that, then hopefully run opportunities open up and you can restore some balance to this offense. Until then don't play a TE because we don't have one who will help. #0, 9 and 87 are our best WRs, play them!
If MLF can't figure this out or come up with something better we're cooked.

When the schedule came out and seen Steelers and Carolina and eagles. Major trap game.
We seem to lose to teams that are blue when we should be blowing them out.
Giants in 2011
Colts the year the hardly one a game
Last Sunday
Seahawks
So that’s over for this year
Hey maybe bring back Robert Tonyan……plus some leadership.
He can block……
We will win by 8 plus On Monday
When Reed and Wicks back.

We don't have a TE who can block. Don't play any TE until the pass game is already established with 6 O linemen.

NFC West has an easy schedule this year….Hence 3 teams with good records
Might need to win division to get in.
The current top 7 looks about right unless Vikings or Bears get in…
Need home playoff games and get back to winning those

Let’s face it. It was a noon game with extra hour of rest and they looked like they didn’t take advantage of that.
Arizona time. Steelers time. Time change early game. To much moving parts
Rest this week and win by 8 plus .
Then back to noon games. So it will get better

Andy Herman, et al. have suggested that this team can win or lose to any team we play; we proven this.
Personally, I believe we matchup well with the Eagles and will beat them. …Then, likely travel to N.Y. and lose to another inferior team.
But beating the Eagles should set the tone for the remaining season.
Go Packers!!!

I'm not calling anything! But I agree the Iggles are not who they were last season, and this roster should (on paper) do well against them.
Starting in 11 personnel with a standard 5 O linemen and anybody at TE is a recipe for frustrating disaster. 6 O linemen, just to get adequate pass pro.

Great article by Ben Solak about the Packers on ESPN, he said plenty of talent but being held back by poor coaching ,I agree with him

BOO! (you have a point) HISS! (you may be right)
MLF has to come out with a completely different offensive strategy, which means he had to be fully into preparing it starting Monday morning at the latest, which means this had to dawn on him almost as soon as #85 got hurt. I just don't see MLF adjusting well, and especially not quickly. I'd be very surprised if he coaches this game well, and neither do I expect him to figure this out this season although I do hope to be proven wrong about that.

You see the Packers having their second worst game of the season on defense, and their 3rd worst game on offense, in the same game, at home???
I don't know. I think you're going to see the Packers play better than they did last week. I think you'll see the 27ppg offense .
XXXXXX
Brian Bulaga joined Tausch and Wilde and the subject gravitated to the Oline, and I thought those former Packer linemen were worth listening to.
You can check it out on You Tube. They're critiquing Orlovsky's analysis.
Here's a summary : The consensus was that the pass blocking has been good, but they're experiencing "leakage" in the run game, and eventually pointed at Jenkins, because as Center, he's supposed to be communicating adjustments that are causing some of this "leakage".
Then, it was pointed out, that he's got different guys around him all the time. Banks,Rhyan on the Right, Rhyan on the Left, Morgan. And they also conceded that even in the best circumstances, there's a learning curve.
So, if you think our run game is struggling, you are right. If you think it's the blocking, you are right. If you think that injuries and the resultant discontinuity are causes, you are right.
Oh, and this is going to kill some people....but Bulaga and Tausch both think the Packers Oline was better last year, and that they'd be better if they still had Josh Myers. In fact, they even mentioned the idea of reacquiring him and said it wasn't a crazy idea.
Yes, I'm laughing.

Saquon Barkley might get 300 yards against this run defense. Unless the Eagles goofy head coach decides to pull a LaFleur and pass 45 times.

November 05, 2025 at 09:31 am
Can the Packers stop Barkley? Which team will put more pressure on the QB? Related to this which team's defensive backs will hold the opponents WR's in check?
Also, will LaFleur finally let Love loose, and become a pass first team, or will it be more forced runs that don't keep the chains moving?

Sorry, Al, but all this Super Bowl talk is totally overblown right now. Tell you what, give me a W v. Philly this week, and I'll give you a definite maybe for Feb. Otherwise, let's concentrate on what we might reasonably achieve; namely winning division, or, failing that, secure a Wild Card spot.
