If Matt LaFleur doesn't continue to evolve, keep learning, and become an actual HC that can make the right decisions in both halves of the games, then all the player moves won't make as big of a difference as they should.
LaFleur has made a lot of questionable calls in the 2nd half of games, it seems like he is overwhelmed at times because he has too much on his plate. Great, even good coaches, make adjustments as the game goes on to give the team every chance to win every game. LaFleur needs to trust his assistants to take some of the responsibilities off his plate so he can be the BEST head coach possible.

Granted, the fact we got anything for losing Gary, let alone a 4th round pick, was a shocking development. I still haven't figured out if it was a genius move by Gutey, or a totally stupid move by the Cowboys. I get the "2027 is the stronger draft to have extra picks" theory, but if that 4th round pick was in the 2026 draft we could have got a RB or a TE, although, the TE market was really depleted very early this year. Not many good options were left. A great option @ RB was still available in Nic Singleton-Penn State.

It's hard to argue best pick in this draft, Cisse fills such a huge need that he is a great choice. But DDS is a monster steal @ pick # 120 that he is arguably the best pick and at a huge position of need. And finally, if Smack pans out like GB thinks he will, then he would be the #1 best pick in this draft, by far. There are backups who can at least take over for a starter at most positions, but not for the kicker or punter.

Least favorite offseason move for me is a tie. Restructuring Banks contract seems like a big mistake after his regrettable performance last year, now we are stuck with him in 2027 too. The other least favorite move was not making Rasheed Walker an offer to keep him as a great backup swing tackle. Someone should have been monitoring Wallace's free agency and at the very least, offering him $5 million guaranteed to stay in GB 1 more year. OL would not be a worry as it is now. And he would have been tradeable in season for at best a 3rd & at worst a 4th round pick.

Nervous about TE until we actually have a solid Y TE on the team that is ready to take some pressure off Kraft. Luke Schoonmaker in an article today is TE3 and maybe TE4 on Dallas team before training camp. Steal him for a 7th round pick right now. They love their UDFA TE Triggs. Schoonmaker is a much better all around TE than Musgrave and maybe we could get a better pick back for trading Musgrave.

LaFleur has a record of evolving over time with the offense changing, season on season. Those that really understand what is happening on the field have detailed the way the offense has changed over time, so I have no worries about him evolving and the changes among his coaching staff.......and the real advantage of higher level experience among many of his staff will help him continue to evolve.

As for making the right decisions in both halves of a game, that is a many-faceted question. Partly it's in-game adjustments. Partly it's the players actually on the field (after injuries have taken their toll). Some game calls might be wrong, but also some that don't work are perfectly good calls that the players fail to execute. Also, luck plays a part as it will in all games.

We will see if the addition of several veterans and (potentially) the loss of some players that were dissatisfied, will help the strength of the locker room and by extension turn some losses into wins.

As for the good draft picks, Cisse looks like a fine choice, but after some deliberation I do like the 3rd round pick of McClellan, as a DT who can bring some pressure AND hold up well against the run. I'm not sure what we get from DDS - I think he is a boom-bust type, so I'm hoping for the 'boom'.

The lack of drafting a blocking TE was a shame but TE's, especially blocking TE's, were overdrafted this year. Stowers at 54 I understand but Boerkircher at 56 ? Roush at 69 was also too early for the Packers, 8 picks before they took McClellan, (who they traded up for). I think they would have taken the DT even if Roush had lasted until later). I quite liked TE Nowakowski, but not more than C Jager Burton in round 5.....and the need to add to the OL was more important than a blocking TE anyway.

There should be more talk about the WRs' 40-yard dash times:
Watson 4.36
Golden 4.29
Reed 4.45
Williams 4.48
Moore 4.41
Melton 4.34
Sturdivant 4.40
Neyor 4.40
If all the WRs who make the team come from these 8,
their times are all under 4.5,
and their average will be under 4.4.

This will be the fastest Packers' WR group ever.

Lloyd is fast, too:
Lloyd 4.46

Will defenses be able to handle all this speed?

Reed is 4.39. Not at the combine, but he's been clocked that fast.

It's foreign to me to try to think of our WR room as anything but a strength. #0 9 & 11 should be on the field together whenever possible, except when MLF wants to run a heavier set. Their interchangeability is just one more way to scheme them open. Savion Williams can develop into a very capable and versatile weapon. Skyy Moore and Bo Melton as #5 & 6 are enviable, and don't forget about Sheppard in addition to Neyor and Sturdivant as developmental depth. This room is stacked for years!

My biggest question is O line, which might be Butkus moreso than players. Of the 16 O linemen now on the roster, surely they can come up with a great 8 to roster and another 5 to try to stash on the PS? Get a consistently competent O line together with a healthy #8, 85 and WRs and this offense will be tough to beat. Our coaching staff needs to develop everybody.

GPG!

Was that a pro day 4.39 Sic? I don't trust the pro day stats as much as the combine. Pierre Strong-4.37.

It was a time the Packers stated after drafting him that their scouts had timed him running:

"He's strong and he's fast. He's got exceptional strength for a smaller-framed player. And then he can run. He's got good tempo. I believe we had him at 4.37.” Then V.P. of player personnel, Jon-Eric Sullivan.

Certainly, he’s demonstrated speed since that makes that credible, but it is not an official timing.
