Backup quarterback Malik Willis indicated earlier in the week that he would be ready to step in vs the Ravens, despite dealing with a shoulder injury he sustained in last Saturday's game in Chicago.
The Packers also announced that guard Aaron Banks (neck/illness) and WR Savion Williams (foot/illness) have both been downgraded to QUESTIONABLE due to illness for tomorrow’s contest against the Ravens.
The team also placed LB Kristian Welch on injured reserve.

If I said it once, I said it once. I appreciate this move for #10's long term health. If #2 is ready to go, letz do it. We won't have him for long and mine as well let him start.
In many ways, I am similar to #2 (not 💩). In that, I get ready every week to contribute my knowledge on CHTV's board. When you all are holding it down, I stay in the comfortz of my palatial estate and dont post a thing. When I see a couple fellow posters struggle...I come in with quite a vast array of knowledge.
You all are welcome. Enjoy me now, cuz I may get signed by another organization that recognizes my talentz.

*if Coach LaF playz his cardz right, the Packers will get the W, but #2 will look awful. He just might be back in Green Bay next season after all. Brilliant! 👏

Wachoo talkin bout, Willis? ;)
And I doubt very much GB made any decision at all about JL10; if he had cleared concussion protocol they'd play him. Neither do we know #2 will be ready to go. We do know that Lamar is out, and I haven't seen any restriction on their backup QB.

NFL's concussion protocol ( recovery protocol) is required to be performed / assessed every day after a concussion has been diagnosed until the player passes the 5 tests and is medically cleared to return.

Well ....now many will get their wish and see how MW handles a full game with a week of prep....I think he'll do good...dont want Love getting another hard hit to the bean...

Not just Love. We'd take a $17M dead cap hit by trading or cutting Gary, but people keep championing that.
The Acquisition of Willis, and his development, is a clear A for the Personnel and Coaching People. Perhaps one possibility is a sign and trade, like we did with Davante Adams.
Do I think we can beat Baltimore with Willis? Absolutely. Do I think it's smart to rest some of our main dogs who are banged up? Absolutely.
The next important game we play will be in about two weeks, in Chicago.

Sign and trade strategies with players you have no intention of keeping, in my personal opinion, should be reserved for disgruntled players who desperately want out of your organization, with rare exception- that rare exception being there's a particular team interested in taking the player in question, and the player in question is willing to go to that team- and everything is agreed upon up front (which is a rarity.)
If you want to retain a player, do it. If you don't want to, or can't, retain a player who has done everything you've asked of him and been a good team mate.. let him control his own future. Especially a guy like Willis who has been in the league a while and hasn't had an opportunity to be a free agent.

Yes, but they'd save $11 million cutting Gary. In a season where money is going to start getting really tight, it may not be a bad idea to cut a guy with a cap hit of $28 MILLION who's NOT had a sack in 8 weeks...EIGHT!
Just saying...

It all comes down to can you replace him for that $11MM saved. I think probably not.

More like can you replace what Gary projects to be in 2026 for that 11 million. It comes down to whether you think he’s past his prime and on a downward slope or whether he can pick it up again . He’s 28. His best is probably behind him.

Exactly what I said, can you replace him for $11MM. Gutey (and co) have an obligation to try. Whatever's decided isn't guaranteed to be correct. Here's hoping they get that very difficult task correct 🍻

Bummer, Love needs to get back in a groove after the rough second half in Denver and then getting knocked out of the Bears game. This season has turned into a mess, just when it was looking like things were getting straightened out coming into Denver.
But Willis can get the job done. Play to win. Full speed ahead.

We don't even know if Malik will be cleared to play.

It seems good to have at least one extra week for Jordan to be able to clear out any lingering cobwebs that would be undetectable by modern medicine.
Also, going on the road to face a team fighting for a spot in the playoffs appears to be a situation to avoid by a quarterback who may not be at his sharpest mentally.
It may not be a terrible idea to sit Love out against the Vikes, too, especially if their defense was beating up the Lions.
Finally, I'm rooting for Malik to excel if he's able to throw the ball properly with his shoulder injury, and isn't in too much danger of hurting it further. I wish him well if his quest is to be a starter for another team in the NFL.

Just gonna say it, Love will likely miss the Vikings game as well, IF, the Packers lose tomorrow.
Huntley is just as capable a back up as Willis.
Jacobs V Henry the main event here?
Willis V Brosmer in the finale? Jesus Christ that sounds terrible. No knock against Willis, but that game may end 3-0.

Don't sleep on Malik or Huntley. I think it's only Jacobs v Henry if they can both hang onto the ball. It's been a year of untimely fumbles for both men.

That it has, more so for his Highness.
I like Huntley and have grown to appreciate Willis. Not sure why Huntley hasn't had success outside of Baltimore. Maybe something for Willis to ponder, as he heads towards UFA.

That's IT!! Malik Willis couldn't possibly be any good on any other team, he should forget all about that idea and resign himself to being our career backup. Also, Hafley would be no good outside of his role here, teams should move on from that idea too ;)

With all due respect to the medical integrity of the decision, I think LaFleur just signaled how he'll play these final two weeks. Accept the Wild Card position again and play from there. For these two weeks injured guys will get rest and recovery, others will be limited for risk exposure.
We fans would've liked to see if they could yet pull off the Division and a higher "seed." But it would've been a long shot going into that final game. The 49ers might beat Chicago but the Lions don't look in any shape or motivation to do it the following week.
A more healthy team matters more than who or where they play in January. The Packers had their chances at the other goals of the season and fell short of getting it done. Yet they continue to play and have shot at a Super Bowl. Falling short anywhere along that route gets them done.

"The 49ers might beat Chicago but the Lions don't look in any shape or motivation to do it the following week."
It wasn't too long ago when the Lions beat Aaron Rodgers and the Packers when they didn't have any motivation to play for...Well, other than knocking the Packers out of the playoffs which they did.
I think the Niners pound the hell out of the Bears. Wouldn't mind that a bit myself. Especially if Williams get a few of those poundings Sunday.
Maybe they'd (The Lions) be pretty happy knocking the Bears down to a 7th seed too? Personally I don't give a damn where we END the Bears season, as long as we shut up those delusional Bears fans who think the Bears did something other than the Packers HANDING them that game,
Hey, when you've SUCKED as long as the Bears have I guess you have to stick your chest out anytime you can! Even when you're gifted a game.

"I think the Niners pound the hell out of the Bears."
I think SF at home will beat the Bears, too.
I'm actually less optimistic than most about the Packers tonight. I'm hoping for a win, but am concerned about their ability to corral Henry. I think we see a very similar defensive game plan for tonight that we saw a week ago.
I think the Ravens will know how to defend Willis.
"Maybe they'd (The Lions) be pretty happy knocking the Bears down to a 7th seed too? "
I think it's a point of pride for Campbell to beat Johnson in that last week. It could be the Bears aren't playing for anything anymore, but I think we see the Lions break out all the stops.

I doubt MLF knows that much ...

I was hoping that Willis would start this game. I think it’s important for Willis to play against a team which still has playoff aspirations in case we need him during the playoffs. The more snaps he can get before the playoffs the better.
As for Love he can use the rest after taking double digit hits against the Broncos and the getting a concussion during the Bears game.
This scenario works out well for both QBs and for the Packers playoff preparations. I doubt that the Packers playoff seed will change even if they win both of their remaining games. GPG!

Thank you for your feedback SicSemperTyrannis. I realize that various seeding scenarios are still possible for the Packers.
However, I. have. noted over the decades that it is usually difficult for a team to remain motivated after they have reached the playoffs. We only need to look at the 2024 Packers who lost their last 2 games of the season before being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs.
I'm hoping that the Packers play hard to win both of their next 2 games. I don't want them to end the season on an 0-4 losing streak. IMO they need to win at least one of their last 2 games and build some confidence and swagger back into their play. I realize that the Packers have numerous injured players who can use rest over the next 2 weeks. However MLF and the coaching staff need to get the players who will playing motivated to win these games.
Obviously the Ravens need this game more than the Packers and they are a well coached team. I think it would a huge lift for the Packers to defeat a team still trying to earn a playoff spot, especially without Love or Parsons in the game. GPG! Thanks, Since '61

Interesting thoughts: is any million dollar NFL player unmotivated to win? Did they lose games due to the "trap game" scenario? Digging into film and discussing what we find will be good fodder for discussion this coming off season. Hopefully our roster digs deep, both now (to win) and after their vacation, reflecting on how to learn from this season. (Even if all ends well)
I can certainly see the sense in resting starters and developing depth in these last two games of the regular season, and I'd think that would remove the possibility of not being motivated.

GB was screwed when Kraft went down...Double screwed when #1 went down...still screwed because the HC still does not throw to the WR with the best hands on the team...in Golden...Not too sure the HC can figure the obvious out this late in the season. As for the Defense and pass rush, we have Safeties and LB's that can Blitz and make up for what Gary has not been able to do and Hafley should have already stepped this up, especially after all these injuries. A lot of pretty good TE's becoming FA's in the spring and GB should absolutely pick one up so it does not torpedo a season losing our TE1 and not having anything close to pick up the pieces. If ML uses what he has on Offense and Defense does make adjustments and Jacobs sits and actually gets healthy we got a shot, but both will have to Coach a lot better.
