Hello Wisconsin: Down, But Not Defeated

Don't give up on these Packers yet.

“I may be sidelined, but I am not defeated.”

So said all-pro edge rusher Micah Parsons after it was announced he’d torn his ACL and would miss the rest of the regular season. The Packers’ prized defensive acquisition of the offseason, gone the moment he’s needed the most.  An absolute gut punch.

It was a tale of two halves in Denver for the Green Bay Packers. In the first half, the Packers, while not perfect, looked like potential champions, Jordan Love looked like an MVP, and the Packers had the Broncos on the ropes.

But then…

Injuries. Everywhere. Parsons. Christian Watson. Zach Tom. Evan Williams. Jayden Reed. The hits kept on coming.

Fortunately, at the moment it appears that only Parsons suffered a serious injury, but for the rest of the game, it was hard not to perseverate. Not even an hour after the Packers looked like they were heading on a Lombardi Trophy march, suddenly fans were thinking that the season could be evaporating before their very eyes.

But those words the next day from Parsons are stuck in my brain.

I think the Packers can still do this.

Don’t get me wrong–it’s going to be a whole lot harder without Parsons. Parsons was the only true pass rush threat the Packers had this season. Rashan Gary has performed a disappearing act, Lukas Van Ness has missed most of the season with injury, and Kingsley Enagbare has been a career rotational player. With Devonte Wyatt already done for the year, the Packers no longer have a clear threat to rush the passer, even if Gary is being paid like one.

This means it’s going to be on Jeff Hafley to find ways to get creative with his defensive packages and find a way to manufacture a rush that don’t rely on guys to always win battles. If they don’t, then the days are going to get even longer for Keisean Nixon and Carrington Valentine, who are already being abused by opposing quarterbacks.

But with Watson, Tom, and Williams all being spared long-term injuries, I’ve stepped back off the edge a bit. We’ve seen how differently the offense functions without Watson, and if he AND Parsons were done for the year, I’d officially be in panic mode. But the Packers’ offense has been significantly more efficient since his return to the lineup, and with how Love has played through most of the season so far, I have no reason to believe this offense can’t shoulder more of the weight through the rest of the season and the playoffs.

The Packers managed to put together pretty solid defensive numbers last year with a worse unit with a lot of these guys having had one year less of development. They’re probably going to need to increase how often they capitalize on takeaway opportunities (those dropped interceptions against the Broncos really, really hurt) and they may be giving up more points, but as long as they can do just enough to give the offense a chance, this team can still win games.

The real barometer is going to be the Bears game this weekend. This is the only game the Packers have remaining against playoff-caliber competition. They just beat the team a week and a half ago, so this is very clearly a “before” and “after” sort of comparison. It’ll be a strong test for the coach and players alike.

There isn’t a single juggernaut team in the NFC, or really the entire NFL. Everyone can beat everyone else on any given day.

What are you made of, Packers? Are you going to curl up into a ball in the face of this adversity, or are you going to rise to the challenge?

Me personally, I think they can still do it.

Wisconsin Beer of the Week

One of my local watering holes frequently has a large number of Young Blood Beer Company beers on tap. I’ve featured Young Blood’s beverages in this space a handful of times previously, so you’re likely familiar with them by now if you’re a long-time reader.

I didn’t manage to get a photo of this one, but my most recent Young Blood experience was with its beer Orange Crush.

The beer is pretty much what it sounds like – a fruited sour with a burst of orange flavor. It sort of tasted like Orange Julius, honestly. Sometimes when you have a beer with the “orange” flavor noted, you’re expecting a hoppy juice bomb. But this was much sweeter and crisper. If you’re a beer traditionalist it may be on the sweet side, but this is one of those types of fruited sours that’s going to be more likely to connect with a broader range of people than some of Young Blood’s other, wilder flavors.

Young Blood is based out of Madison, and their beer is available all over Wisconsin. They have plenty of traditional beer varieties in addition to their funkier stuff. Highly recommend checking them out!

It’s time for Jordan Love to be the guy

As I alluded to earlier, there’s been a lot of talk about how the Packers’ chances of winning a title plummet in the absence of Micah Parsons. And yeah, it’d be foolish to pretend that it’s going to be a cakewalk from here on out for the Packers.

Of course, it was never going to be a cakewalk to begin with.

Every team has to overcome adversity to win a championship. The 2025 Packers will be no different in that regard.

But to me, the real storyline moving forward is how the Packers, in Jordan Love’s third full season as a starter, finally fully turn the keys completely over to Love.

For the vast majority of this season, Love has been outstanding. He’s had the best season of his career after a couple good (but streaky) seasons. He’s looked like a legitimate top flight quarterback in the NFL and has outplayed some of the guys who have consistently ranked in that upper echelon over the last five or so years in the NFL.

From here on out, the Packers are going to have to rely on their offense to win them some games. The defense is capable of assisting the team to a championship, but in the absence of Parsons and Devonte Wyatt, this is a team that’s going to have to play with a lead as much as possible.

This makes it especially significant that Zach Tom and Christian Watson were not more severely injured, because the offense without them is significantly different.

In the first half of the Broncos game, before the game was completely interrupted by catastrophic injuries in quick succession, Jordan Love was absolutely shredding the league’s third-ranked defense. And over and over again this season, he’s answered the call when the team needed him to do so.

This is the biggest test of Love’s career so far. It’s time to spread those wings and fly.

So far in his career, Jordan Love has not necessarily HAD to be *the guy* for the Packers to succeed. But now, not only is he going to have to be, but he’s also CAPABLE of being exactly that.

Jordan Love is the real deal. He has all the makings of a future league MVP and has passed almost every test put in front of him. This is his biggest yet, and I see no reason why he can’t pass this one, too.

It all begins in Chicago on Saturday night. Where better?

Around the NFC North

As always, it’s time to go around the NFC North.

  • The CHICAGO BEARS find themselves in control of the NFC North once again… for now. It is quite likely that whoever wins the showdown in Chicago on Saturday will win the division. The Bears have been finding a bit of offense as of late, showing just how much Ben Johnson has done to transform this team over the course of the season. They’re setting themselves up to be good for quite some time, meaning we may be about to enter what could become the most intense era of the rivalry in decades.

  • The DETROIT LIONS are still hoping for further slip ups from teams in the NFC wild card picture, but at this point, they need a whole lot of help. More likely, they’ll be hoping to play spoiler with games against the Steelers and Bears still on the schedule. There is, however, at least somewhat of a chance that the game against the Bears in week 18 could be for a wild card spot; they’ll be rooting for the Bears to lose to the Packers this weekend to help make that a possibility.

  • The MINNESOTA VIKINGS continue to see surprisingly positive performances from JJ McCarthy after a year of futility. This means the team keeps worsening its draft status, and will likely do so further in a game against the hapless Giants this weekend. The remaining divisional matchups against Green Bay and Detroit will serve as a good barometer for where this team is heading and whether they can truly trust in 9 to be the long-term answer.

Mr. Backes’s “This or That”

Every day I put a different “this or that” poll up on my whiteboard and have students leave tallies throughout the day. I then compile this information and post it here for laughs.

Here’s what we’ve seen over the last week:

  • Candy canes defeated gingerbread
  • Rudolph defeated Frosty
  • Deck the Halls defeated the 12 Days of Christmas
  • Sledding defeated skiing
  • Fake trees defeated real trees

Winter Break is almost upon us

For the first time in my educational career, I have a full two weeks off of school coming up. Tomorrow (Friday) is my final day of class for 2025, and then it’s a much-needed break.

Having started my career in the private sector before shifting to teaching, it’s always interesting now to be on the other side of things. There are a lot of people who roll their eyes at teachers who remark on needing a break or who give the profession grief for having summers “off” (hint: it’s never truly a summer off). But man, having been doing this for some time now, I’ve never done another job that requires more mental and emotional energy and investment. The winter break is so crucial for recharging the battery before coming back for that long stretch of January through March.

This year I’m looking forward to more time with my kids, who also have off the same amount of time, as well as all of the usual holiday traditions. I’ll also be taking a short trip to visit a friend for a few days in Arizona, so I can’t wait for the warmth (at least compared to what we’ve got here in Wisconsin) and a bit of a change of scenery.

I hope all of you are able to have at least a little bit of time off around the holidays to spend time with family and recharge your own batteries.

I’m not giving up on this team, and I’ll be damned if I pick the Bears over the Packers.

I know I said the Packers will probably lose on Saturday earlier in the week but as I look at this game and I see that some of the injured players might be playing I am now saying the Packers can win. Many fans do believe we cannot win without Parsons. I believe that losing Parsons might help us. This will force the coaches to change their game plan and if they do it correctly the Bears will not be prepared. We just played the Bears two weeks ago so they will game plan but they will have to adjust their game plan now.

Just beat the Indiana Bears. Yes I am looking to the future.

This team is in no way better without Micah Parsons; however, he was not added until after training camp and everything they installed then is still a viable defense as well as completely different. Hopefully several of our players rise to the opportunity ...

"Many fans do believe we cannot win without Parsons. "

Most of the doom and gloom is on the heels of playing arguably the best team in the league at their place to a standstill for the better part of that game. Chicago is no Denver.

The Packers need to figure out how they're going to shore up the front 4 against the Chicago run game. They can go heavier with some combo of Brinson/Stackhouse/Riley/Bohanna, but they all lack juice. They can run-blitz heavily, but they'll be susceptible to play action/rollouts and probably give up some big runs to the edges.

Sorry Tim, but with no OL, bad DB’s and no pass rush I can’t see the Packers doing much the rest of this season.

The bright side? There’s always next year.

"This is the only game the Packers have remaining against playoff-caliber competition."

Since when has that mattered? Remember that we played Cleavland too? I'm sure that regardless of Saturdays' game that the players and coaches won't take the Ravens and Vikings for granted.

Winning Saturday is all about the O-line. No if, ands or buts about it. For the offense and Love to take control and help the defense they'll have to win the line of scrimmage. It's not complicated or guessing it's all right in front of them.

You’re right T7 about getting beat by Cleveland, but there is a big difference when making the playoffs or not are closely in sight. Urgency becomes higher and play more intense. Complacency can happen during a season. Throw out past games, this will be playoff atmosphere game and the team with least errors will win IMO.

"getting beat by Cleveland, but there is a big difference when making the playoffs or not are closely in sight."

I should wait till someone smarter responds to this, but REALLY? Maybe for the fans. There're only 17 games. They don't go through the season and say "Ok. Guess we better start winning so we can get in the playoffs."

Even Tim says above in his article that good teams take care of the teams they're supposed to. Unfortunately, that came up while he was discussing the Bears taking care of business by beating the Browns.

I'll try one more time, otherwise if you don't agree will just agree to disagree.

Throughout the year, there are always trap games and situations where teams just don’t bring the same intensity as they do in the playoffs or when a team sees the opportunity in their sites to get to the playoffs or a better seeding. This is the time when the rubber meets the road.

Against Cleveland, Chicago had to bring the energy since we had just beaten them. Meanwhile, Cleveland’s players couldn’t care less—their season was over. Other blowouts last weekend followed a similar pattern. Just look at the Titans, Cincinnati, Las Vegas, or Miami games as examples of teams that had given up. Chicago couldn’t afford to fall another game behind us. In my opinion, the fact they beat Cleveland and we didn’t doesn’t mean much.

This upcoming game will be intense on both sides, with each team bringing their best. Whether that will be enough remains to be seen. Chicago isn’t favored at home, so Vegas sees the Packers as the stronger team. Time will tell, but my money’s on the Packers.

Tim thank you for choosing to educate our youth and doing your part to molding them into good adults. I hope some of them will thank you in future years for helping them.

I respect teachers. It is a profession I thought about after retiring from the military. I decided against it when I found out the only reason I wanted to teach was to have a job. That was the wrong reason to teach.

Teachers should be treated as professionals. They should be paid as professionals but they should also be required to prove they are professionals by ratings and continuing their education. Yes, I know many school districts or states require this.

Merry Christmas to you and your family and enjoy your time off.

Cheers to the many teachers and school administrators throughout the country. A much under appreciated profession.
The pain of losing to the Broncos is still lingering, but I am becoming more confident about the Bears game—I believe we’re going to win. Can Love drive us to Disneyland?
I got excited when the Packers activated Lloyd, and then realized it wasn’t likely long term.

“The Packers managed to put together pretty solid defensive numbers last year with a worse unit with a lot of these guys having had one year less of development. “

This is one of the brighter comments. Many of us don’t give enough credit to development of a player, whether that’s be from their own and or thru coaching. We have so many examples where players progress from one year to the next. IE: Jordy, who came into his own the latter part of year 3. So, a player can actually get better during the year. I think both LVN and Cox could be guys to pressure the QB consistently. That’s important, but I believe against da bears the most important will be containment and run defense. If we do that well and don’t turn the ball over we win!

My loins are girded for a loss on Saturday, BUT this team is not going to roll over for the Bears. I'd love to see these guys who have been disregarded and disrespected battle and come out of Chicago with the W. It's good to be a Packers fan, and it's good to have so much to play for this late in the season.

"The real barometer is going to be the Bears game this weekend. This is the only game the Packers have remaining against playoff-caliber competition."

With the Bears being the first week "post Parsons", the Packers are likely to be throwing out some wrinkles and emphasizing things that will essentially be unscouted looks. They need to capitalize on that. If the Packers can start fast--which they did against the Broncos--and put 7s up instead of 3s, they'll put a lot of pressure on the Bears to try to keep up and take a lot of pressure off their run defense.

Three games left and while the Bears might have the best record of their remaining opponents, the Packers better not take the Ravens or Vikings lightly. They need to win 2 of their remaining three to lock up a playoff spot on their own. Losses by the Bears and Detroit impact that calculus. I don't want the Packers' season hinging on a road trip to Minneapolis in the final week.

There are several Bears fans lurking (WorstWisconsin, StinkyCheese, etc.) who are waiting for post-game Saturday to break out and troll like crazy if the Bears win. Let's keep them quiet.

BEARS--
They tend to play better in the first and fourth quarters, and that was borne out against a Cleveland team that didn't want to be there. If you watched that game, the Bears' O was really not all that good for the middle two quarters and put 17 points up off TOs, mostly at the end when Sanders had no choice but to throw.

LIONS--
The Lions' playoff hopes are on life support and they will be chasing whichever of the Packers/Bears game loses. If the Packers win and the Bears lose to the 9ers, that final game is an elimination game, and I can't see Dan Campbell losing to Ben Johnson in that scenario. If the Packers lose to the Bears, they'd better be winning the next two weeks.

VIKINGS--
They played arguably their best game of the year against Dallas in a game where Dallas pretty much outplayed them on paper in except for the final score. Dallas can't get out of their own way at this point. The Giants aren't very good, but the Vikes will need to play outside against them. Their record in games played outside: 1-3.

I may be like many old-timers in wondering why the Vikings ever gave up their frigid outdoor advantage for home games that they had under Bud Grant in the late 1960s and throughout the 1970s, when they dominated the northern division and made it to the Super Bowl four times.
Since the Vikings have moved indoors for their home games, they've never been the same. Their mystique as ferocious Norsemen has melted away even as they found coziness in their environs.
Those were the days I grew to really hate the Vikings as they dominated the Packers behind the twirling and exasperating elusiveness of Fran Tarkenton.

The Packers have to play 60 minutes of mistake-free football to win in Chicago without Parsons. No procedure penalties. No offsides. No illegal shifts. No pass interference. No unnecessary roughness. Make sure to get the play called and run before there is :01 on the play clock. AND no missed tackles, interceptions, wasted time outs or ridiculous challenges.

Can the Packers players (and Coaches) deliver this kind of performance? It is what they are being paid to do, but so far this season it has been an unattainable goal. I don't see how this changes on Saturday.

"It’s time for Jordan Love to be the guy"

This team will go as far as Love takes it. Its that simple. Love is the guy, he is one of the best QB's in the league. It is time for him to take over and overcome any flaws on the team. To make a run, you need your best to take over. It is time for Love to take over!

"Around the NFC North"

The CHICAGO BEARS -
The Bears beat the Browns who are onto their 3rd? starting QB of the season. And it sounds like they won the Super Bowl. The Bears have improved. But lets see how they finish when they play GB, 49ers and Lions.

The DETROIT LIONS -
Wouldn't it be interesting if Lions and Bears in week 18 decided who made the playoffs. But either way considering everyone was crowning the Lions, they have really fallen this year.

The MINNESOTA VIKINGS -
Vikings have played better the last few games. McCarthy has looked better (from what I have seen). McCarthy may be the QB of the future. A lot has to be determined for that. But either way they really messed up the position in the offseason.

I'm highly impressed with the increasing stature of Jordan Love as QB for the Packers.
However, I hope he doesn't try to do too much from here on out. Mostly do what he's been doing. All of us can always improve, but sometimes trying to do too much is counterproductive.
The same with somebody like Van Ness. Don't try to become a pro bowler in one game.
I'm excited about some of our Packers really stepping up for the rest of the season, but for the most part it's a matter of being a little more prepared, a little more determined, and a little more focused.
Mostly it's a matter of giving one's best in the context of the team.
Also, it's a matter of appreciating the moment and having some fun out there.

I agree. He doesn't need to over do anything. But he needs to make the right plays. He needs to put the ball where only his guys can get it. He needs to control the game.

I agree about LVN and others on defense. Don't try to over do whatever to make up for Parsons loss. Play your game to the best that you can.

I have a lot of faith in this team! I have faith in our coaches to get this team to do exactly what we need it to do!

The Packers need their OL to dominate the LOS. If they can do that and play with a lead they will make the Bears one dimensional. As for Love being the guy he can't be the "guy" unless the OL protects him and gives him time to make good throws.

On defense it will be key for the Packers to get off the field on third down. Bet the ball back to the offense keep the Bears offense off the field. Run the ball plus quick passing game to move the chains is the best way to protect Love and enable him to become the "guy". The Packers must minimize their penalties in this game, especially the pre-snap penalties. Needless to say no turnovers by the Packers offense. It would be great if the Packers defense can generate some turnovers in this game.

Play with a lead to enable the Packers to generate a pass rush even without Parsons. It's time for Rashon Gary to take over a game. He needs to show up big time this week along with LVN and Cooper. GPG! Thanks, Since '61

I think play action should be a big part of the Packers' game plan for Saturday evening. The Bears are going to stopping up the inside run lanes, especially on early downs. The Packers should be able to take advantage of that, likely against man coverage. They also had good success running off tackle against the Bears earlier...LaF has a tendency to put plays like that in his pocket and not use them again. They need to attack wide (as bjorn said--pitch it wide) and keep doing it until the Bears show they can stop it.

Racking up first downs on offense is golden.
So is stopping the Bears on third down.
Time of possession!
To do so, this may be a game for the passing game to set up the running game.
I agree with the idea of going with the quick passing game enhanced by various formations and motions, and using the entire field from sideline to sideline.
I do like that the Packers are committed to the running game, but in some cases the way to get the running game going is to get the passing game going first.
I'd throw in at least a couple of deep passes along the way, but would focus mostly on the short and medium passes with quick releases by Love.
I hope the Packers are ready to out-maul the Bears, but I'd like to outsmart them, too.

We should have the horses to beat the Bears. Our run D is essentially unchanged by Parsons loss. We already knew we needed a change in approach from Hafley with respect to stopping Williams running right and covering the back field when he does.

They will run as they did last time and last week. We need to look at who we activate on the IDL and play Williams smarter while paying attention to running on them ourselves. It’s against more balanced teams and QBs with less significant traits that the losses will start to be more significant.

This current situation should be time of reckoning and honest appraisal of the current make-up of the O-line, D-line and corner-room. Sometimes we need to have our backs against the wall before we agree to face the truth.

I think there will be valiant efforts made by Hafley, Cooper, perhaps, Oliver, Sorrell, Love, Watson (I hope he's not coming back too early), Doubs, Wicks, etc.

Every team has injuries by this time. GB has to stop whining and excuse-making. My hope is they take a long, hard look @ their weak trenches, TE and CB rooms and honestly evaluate how they can assemble better players, add more depth and not rely on 1 person in each group to save the team---Love, Parsons, Tom, Williams, Kraft, Watson. Now, all I hear is 'Love has to save the team'. He could get seriously injured in the next few games with that expectation while receiving little protection by the OL.

For the Bears game, I think the defense needs to keep Williams in the pocket and stop the run. Parsons was the only edge who could keep up with Williams when he broke the pocket. He's dangerous rolling to his right. Offensively, I think the O Line just needs to give Love time. The Bears got burned blitzing Love last time so the strategy might change. Also, When we had the rash of injuries, I felt like Hafley didn't flinch and he kept his defense on track. I don't think the offense faired quite the same and it looked to me like LaFleur panicked a little ( remember that ridiculous challenge) LaFleur needs to channel some of that Hafley energy for himself and put his guys in position to make plays. Lots of ifs, but it can be done.

"Parsons was the only edge who could keep up with Williams when he broke the pocket. He's dangerous rolling to his right."

The Bears like to run right, too. They're bigger on the right side and they like to overload that side. Packers will probably need to play more base to counter that. It's looking like the Bears will be short both Burden and Odunze on Saturday, which makes them more TE and--likely--run heavy.

"I don't think the offense faired quite the same and it looked to me like LaFleur panicked a little"

Without Watson on the field, the Broncos D was able to play the ball in front of them more and attack the LOS. They weren't as concerned about the Packers' long game. Many people comment they want "fewer long shots," but those shots are a big part of the Packers' offense. If Watson plays--even if he's mostly a decoy--he pushes the safeties back which opens up the underneath and the run game on third down. If he doesn't the Packers need to get Reed and Golden downfield.

I agree having Watson will open things up, but he might be on a pitch count. I think Golden can fill that roll but he's not attracting that same attention yet. If we can burn the Bears with Golden a couple times we'll be in good shape.

Curl up in a ball or ball out against the Bears?
It seems to me that there were good hopes for the Packers before we obtained Micah.
I favored the Micah trade because it moved up the Packers from contenders to the Super Bowl to elite contenders.
We gave up a lot to get Micah, but I thought it was worth it to try to push the Packers to the very top of the NFL.
It was a good risk.
The opportunity to get a proven difference-maker like Micah in the prime of his career doesn't come along all that often. Actually, it happens very rarely.
I liked the trade for Parsons, and still do. He was great this season, and was a main reason why we've gotten as far as we are, in the thick of the playoff picture.
I'm hopeful he'll be great for us for a few years to come.
***
As mentioned, it seems the Packers were contenders for the Super Bowl before Micah.
At that time, we were already among a pack of teams that had a plausible opportunity to win it all. It wasn't likely the Packers would win it all on February 8th, but we were in the hunt.
We still are, even without Micah. Our chances aren't as good, but we still have a decent chance.
So, it would be silly to give up the season, and it would be sad.
Just as Wyatt has stepped up this season before his injury, let's see who else can step up from here on out.
We saw Wicks star in a game last month; let see if he can continue to step up, and if others will join him.
Let's see if the coaches can put our talented players in the best positions to succeed.
It's good drama, because we're less certain of triumph, but we still have reason to hope.
We have that underdog thing going for us, too, the challenge of overcoming adversity.
***
In any case, beating the Bears this Saturday is a huge game in itself. Whatever else happens this season, it would be highly satisfying to beat the Bears as they are in their ascent, and just when the Packers have been dealt some tough blows.
So, let's just go out and try to beat the Bears. Let's have some fun with that in the spotlight of a national game on Saturday night.
Then we'll go from there.

"even without Micah"

Don't worry Swisch, no one else has him either. That's why the Price Is Right.

why would anyone think that the Ravens will be an easier win than the Bears?? King Henry rumbling through the line...they won't be an easy win...Lambeau field is not an infallible place to play anymore, sadly....

Won't be an easy win, but the Ravens have been an average team this year.

"So far in his career, Jordan Love has not necessarily HAD to be *the guy* for the Packers to succeed. But now, not only is he going to have to be, but he’s also CAPABLE of being exactly that".

This says it's been fine for Love to have played in a 'subdued' manner. Why hasn't he played to 'the guy' level? Certainly there have been games that warranted such adaptation, and over three starting seasons he hasn't come close to donning the cape in games as had the true elite QB's in the league.

Love is a product of his HC's Offense, and the benefactor of many a Defensive win. Love will never be the force to rally a team as Allen did last week, or even close to that level, he simply isn't that guy. He'll get his stats, and with averaging, he'll look better than he actually is, but he isn't bringing you back, on his shoulders, from anything of what true elite QB's can deliver.

We haven't seen it because he hasn't done it, and we haven't seen it because he can't do it. His entire three-year status has been nothing more than a half to half QB, just as the team has been. If you're a QB wins stat guy, he doesn't have the numbers to make him look elite, but possibly below average.

GO PACK GO!

If Love has any 'the guy' in him, here's a perfect time to see it on the field, if not, stop making him more than he is.

He's done it for halves at a time. Now it will have to be a whole game.

Many of the QB 'heroes' such as Allen, Rodgers, Mahomes, Stafford, have had powerful O-Line protection.

GB's OL is profoundly weak and they currently do not have their only decent player, Tom. After Tom left the game last week, the right side collapsed completely. Before criticizing Love, please compare apples to apples.

The QB doesn't operate in a vacuum.

Take a look @ a phenomenal QB, Joe Burrow. His frequent injuries are the result of a terrible o-line where he was constantly pressured.

Burrow has had the worst OL, IDK, perhaps his entire NFL career, and yet, his play is far superior to Love. If Love had to endure the Bengal OL, his career would likely be over already. Love cannot wear the cape of these level QB's, period. He isn't that guy. Love has hit his ceiling, and what helps him, somewhat, is the higher floor, and what produces so many half game play.

I think the Pack has a good chance to win this game. That said I am not thrilled about the 8:30 start time. What's next; midnight football?

I mentioned the catastrophic result of a weak O-Line on a QB--Joe Burrow.
Joe Burrow had the advantage over Love with elite receivers-J'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.

I would bet Jordan Love would be amazing with a reliable WR#1 and #2 and a good O-Line-just like other elite QBs have at their disposal. Because he has operated with a poor supporting cast (in comparison to elite QB's)-I will not judge him.

Joe Burrow may be a great Qb, but he is rarely available due to injuries-many of which are the result of his poor O-Line.

The point is that you need a great team. Not everyone can be the "best ever". Everyone just do their job and every coach give every player the right job. There have been many QBs that have won SBs that aren't Hall of Fame players. There have been Hall of Fame QBs that haven't won SBs or only maybe one,

Great teams that are all healthy at the right time.

Before: the Bears were kicking your butts in the second half @ Lambeau. If that game were 5 quarters, the fudge packers would have lost.

After: Game at Soldier Field + a weaker Packers squad + a QB ascending. Da Bears are the better team. I can't wait to come here on Sunday and read the despair and excuses as to why you lost. Sad Cheesehead's bring me great joy.

Bears 34 Packers 27

P.S I do think the Bears are the better team but have PTSD of you guys whooping us through the years. Looking forward to a better rivalry and future trash talking #FGB
