Destination Draft Day

Tour Guide on what to do in Green Bay.

By now you have probably heard that Green Bay will have the honor of hosting the 2025 NFL draft on April 24th-26th. It is an exciting milestone for Titletown adding another chip to its mantel of football accomplishments. The small city with a population of just above 105,000 people is expected to host around 300,000 visiting football fans traveling from various parts of the world. It is going to be one hell of a party and a chance for fans to indulge in the history while educating themselves on the impact the Packers historic franchise has had on football.

Green Bay does not shy away from honoring and cherishing its history.

Lambeau Field, named after Earl “Curly” Lambeau who was the founder of the Packers along with being a player and coach for 31 years, is surrounded by streets named after Green Bay title winning coaches including Vince Lombardi Ave (the street Lambeau field is on), Mike Holmgren Way and Mike McCarthy Way. The stadium is surrounded by local neighborhoods and houses that charge for parking on their driveway during game days maintaining Midwestern hospitality with small town traditions. As someone who is not from Wisconsin (California), Green Bay has always felt like home when visiting and learning something new every time has been essential when exploring the community. Titletown will experience a plethora of different fan bases for the NFL draft probably the most Green Bay has seen. It is highly encouraged that whether you are a Packers fan traveling from out of state or representing a different team participating in Draft festivities to learn about the unorthodox history of the franchise with thirteen championships.

Why is Green Bay called Titletown?

Besides the obvious answer of “team with the most titles”, Titletown district has become a staple to the development of Green Bay with a public park that is open year round which includes an ice skating rink, a playground, a football field and other fun amenities. The tourism and population of the city has increased with these additions making it a more desirable destination beyond seeing games at Lambeau Field. For lessons on special landmarks around the town and background on the team’s creation take a trip on the Packers Trolly Tour which takes you down the Packers Heritage Trail. There are daily tours of the Lambeau Field atrium and stadium, which gives fans the chance to walk through the team’s president, general manager, and head coach’s office. Personally, I have taken this tour twice and still consider it a necessity to go as many times as I can. The pictures on the walls in the halls honoring former players and teams are vivid, giving off a feeling of bliss when staring at them like paintings in a museum. The different views provided on the tour gives fans a chance to take unique and memorable pictures like from the top of the atrium looking down into the stadium, a box lounge where you can sit in the chairs and pretend you are a big shot watching games, and walking onto the almighty Lambeau Field visually taking in all of the retired jersey numbers, goal post end zone and really finding out how difficult it is to make a Lambeau Leap. Help yourself to delicious restaurants in the stadium, the epic two story Packers Pro Shop (be careful, you could spend a lot real quickly), and talk to the amazing guest service members, some who are either owners, season ticket holders, or who have lived in Green Bay their entire life, who do a great job maintaining order providing excellent customer service. Last but not least that’s a must do in Green Bay is checking out the Packers Hall of Fame within the atrium of Lambeau Field. Honoring 170 individuals of the franchise with nine different galleries, this 15,000 square foot museum is a special look into the Packers rich history of players, coaches, and many others that have shaped and cultivated the franchise to what it is today. Even a Bears fan would respect the Packers Hall of Fame. If you are attending the draft or even planning a trip in the summer, I highly recommend purchasing your tours ahead of time as they sell out quickly.
