No Jaire, so they go man and three rushers.

Does Hafley understand the QB he is playing against? You need to place pressure on him, as he will make mistakes. Lots of them. McDuffie drops ball in his bread basket....sheesh!

THIS is what I'm talking about when I say "get the TEs more involved!" They broadcast #88 on the play, and he STILL got the first first down! It wasn't pretty, this is Musgrave. MLF could have mimicked the Queens playcalling, but I think Josh Jacobs has been more effective than Aaron Jones so far. A comparison I really don't want to have to make.

Is this a good time to remind everybody that we didn't miss a single FG from 40 or under last year?
Packers move the ball well on their first possession, but stop themselves with a penalty, a dropped pass, and a missed FG, one right after the other.

Hafley best stay two-deep, or this shit show will go down like Badger in the 3rd quarter.

Vikings 2nd TD drive: Facemask on Cooper, PI on Stokes, Defensive Holding on Nixon. Three first downs and over 40 yards. See, the STATS will look great, because we didn't give up very many rushing yards, or passing yards, so unless you actually measured by POINTS, you don't realize that this was a bad defensive series.
14-0 During the Brett Favre years, we NEVER came back from more than 14. Rodgers did it a couple of times, but if we fall any further behind then that's going to be a real ominous development.

Sometimes you play poorly.
Sometimes the refs bone you.
Sometimes, both happen.
I agree that we're just playing poorly. The refs could have chosen to call the helmet-to-helmet on the interception but they didn't. That's about it.
We can get back in this game, but that means we're going to have to pass, and that means we're going to have to protect.

Missing in the melee, is 2 defensive stops by the Packers in difficult situations.
Oppy
September 29, 2024 at 01:52 pm
I'd like to say I'm shocked at how many posters here are reacting to the scoreboard and not paying attention to the play on the field in terms of Love's performance.
He looks just fine out there. Yeah, it's clear his mobility isn't 100%, but he's throwing the ball just fine. Only 'questionable' throw was the tight window to Watson, and he got it in there and it hit Watson's hands. The other INT, in my opinion, was intended for Doubs and the TE mistakenly went up for a ball that wasn't meant for him and deflected it.
Defense is clearly outmatched without Jaire and Valentine available.
I hate to say it, but the Vikings are a good team in the first 1/4 of the 2024 season.

Close but no cigar.
The defense did an admirable job from the vikings' last two or three drives of the first half, up until they allowed the TD late in the 4th.
The Packers WRs started catching the ball and they had a chance down to the wire.
Poor showing from both Offense and Defense in the first half, and of course, Narveson's horrible outing, too much to overcome.
WR's were not in sync. They had a poor start to the season, then weren't really used much or at all for the last two weeks (exception; Reed), and it looked like it in the first half.
Everything that could go wrong, did, in the first 30:00 of regulation.
Let's hope Jaire, Valentine, Kraft, and Wyatt all heal up. Watson, too... and let's see how Love's MCL responds to his first game back.
Dust it off and get back on the horse.

I just want to remind everybody that beating the Vikings when they think they have a chance to win is more fun than just beating them. I'd also point out that we were 2-5 last year. I'd also like to point out that Minnesota has a long history of fast starts and feeble finishes.
We could score on the first possession of the 2nd half and make it 28-14. Plenty of time yet.
I can see the argument for Willis. Love doesn't look like his leg is right yet. Still, if we want to score 21 points in the second half, we're going to have to throw.

Bullard has got to block better on the punt return.

Love could not get velocity on the ball. Not his fault.

Plenty of blame for this game. JL did not play well before injury...either. In the end a lot to clean up and we will improve. This is why you PAY your kicker to make the kicks....Being cheap with a kicker will only lose us more games...you'd have thought the playoffs last season were enough to learn from...but alas...granite heads are making the decisions here.

You think the kicking situation is about money?
No sir. It's about missing on the talent evaluation, and not having better options.
I applaud the Packers for moving on from Carlson because he wasn't good enough after 2023 and he didn't show enough improvement in camp to warrant putting more time into, but ultimately, there wasn't a lot of talent out there to bring in to replace him. They rolled the dice on a strong legged kid with no experience and it hasn't worked out.
It sucks, and it's a mistake.. but it's not about being cheap.

Absolutely...anytime there is a big failure in GB...like a good ST coach, etc. It's always about money at it's root core. There were at least 4 FA kickers last season, including our own Crosby who lost his 50+ range. There is truth in not having a quality go-to kicker after Crosby left. Our kicker may improve...hopefully a lot. But nothing feels like it's 85% a sure thing anymore regardless of the range we are kicking from. More red zone wins will limit the 3 point try. Our offense is nowhere near rolling like we were at the end of last season...It's gonna be a while.

Not sure how this conversation drifted from 'Packers don't have a kicker because they're cheap' to 'offense not as good as last year', but I'll try to steer it back on track.
Yes, the Packers are looking for the kicker of the future, and they have failed to find him over these last 2-3 seasons.. and I don't see any indication it's about money.
There's literally zero reason for the Packers to make moves based on saving money unless the cap is tight. There's no owner raking in more money if it's not spent. The Packers are a not-for-profit organization and they play in a league with not only a salary cap, but also a salary floor.
They may not be perfect and may make mistakes, but every move made by the Packers is made with the goal of doing what's best to field a competitive team that makes sense for both the short and long term of the franchise.
'being cheap' is rarely at the root of any problems with the Packers. It's a fun narrative for people though, especially through the TT years, even when he was paying key players handsomely on 2nd, 3rd contracts and extensions.

Well, it was the Vikings superbowl… cause thats a close as they will get to seeing it. They played a 49er team with No McCafrey and no Kittle. They let the packers come back from 28-0 for a final of 31-29 so I dont know how they can feel good about that win. It was evident Love had rust to knock off the entire first half. And GB basically didnt have a kicker and down 2 CBs.
But as a packer fan, this was the worst game to watch in 30+ yrs. At one point I turned it off and went outside and mowed the lawn. I dont want to see Nixon in the secondary for the rest of the year.

If you thought this was the worst game to watch in 30 years, your poor memory must be acting as a defense mechanism to prevent trauma.
There have been some real stinkers. ;)

Why did they give Narveson Donny Anderson's old number, maybe because he kicks like a running back. If he can run like him maybe a few faked field goals might workout better than actually kicking the ball. They should have chosen Joseph instead who has the Viking record for game winning field goals. Ce' la vie. GPG
